Re: Eibach Sportlines Installing...?

id recomend gettin some type of spring compressor to do the fronts. only needed for removing the front springs. but i had one that wasnt worth a crap, and i managed to do all 4 springs without a compressor. once my lower control arms were hanging down to the max with added pressure of a pry bar, i just pryed out the front springs. (spring barely had tension, or it could have been extremely dangerous). the rears will literaly fall out when you unbolt the shock nut. i also had my panhard bar out (since i was putting in an adjustable one). which you will need too. there should be a write up somewhere on here that will give you details i havent told u.

Re: Eibach Sportlines Installing...?

Actually, I just installed the same springs a few months ago on my car. I didn't need a spring compressor at all. I was able to nudge them in place and jack up on the A arm.

A spring compressor is always the SAFEST way to do it though...

Re: Eibach Sportlines Installing...?

I rented a internal style spring compressor from autozone (you get your money back when you return it). I then got a piece of pipe as per the writeup so that the compressor would not bottom out on the K member. I used that along with a pair of floor jacks...one jack under the back mount of the a arm, and one under the front. it is also bolted in at the ball joint at this point. Then i just raised it up into place. Worked well for me.

Here's the AutoZone version. Buy a pipe nipple for two or three bucks.

Re: Eibach Sportlines Installing...?

Take some chain loop it thought the spring and control arms then couple it together with a pad lock, it does not have to be super thick chain, leave some slack so the LCA can be lowered all the way down. This will prevent the spring from flying out at you if the floor jack slips or you let the LCA down to fast. No need for a spring compressor on this type of car.
