jack up rear. support frame so rear end hangs free.
unbolt shocks, lower rear end down.
slide out old springs, slide new ones in.
bolt shocks up.
30 min tops

Re: Installing Rear Lowering Springs..

Be careful not to lower the rear so much that the center brake line ruined.

Re: Installing Rear Lowering Springs..

No...

It's not that hard.

There's not even any "slide" to it. You just kinda set em there in their place, and then have your assistant hold em still so they don't fall out while you jack the rear end back up to the point you can re-attach the shocks.

The springs usually FALL OUT if you take the shocks loose and let the rear hang. FALL. As in, nothing but gravity. Aside from any rusty stuck bolt hassles, probably the easiest thing on the car to change; WAY easier than spark plugs, or even, changing the oil. Takes about twice as long to jack the car up and set it on stands and to take it back off, as it does to change out the springs.

Might as well do the shocks at the same time.

James is right about the brake hose; easiest way around that, is to remove the bolt that holds the little brass block to the rear end housing, that the hose and the lines go into.

Re: Installing Rear Lowering Springs..

No need to remove the shocks, if you jack up the rear so the axle hangs free you can with a little force pull the old springs right out and put the new ones in. Takes all of a couple of minutes

Re: Installing Rear Lowering Springs..

Yeah, its more of a pain in the *** trying to keep the springs in rather than taking them out.

Re: Installing Rear Lowering Springs..

That's why I have droop limiters in the rear. The springs sitting loose under full extention is an immediate tech inspection failure here. Some straps...done! Can be bolted to stock arms easily

ignore horrific uglyness LOL

That is actually a good idea.. When does your car's rear go into a full extention mode though?

Re: Installing Rear Lowering Springs..

Doesn't matter if you do hazard style jumps or not, it's a tech failure so it's a problem.

I don't question you that it's a Tech failure, but its almost laughable....if your suspension is extended enough in the rear to the point where springs might drop out....well, you have a lot more problems then that!!!

Every time you put the car on a lift. Now I know many people don't have access to one, but I have mine on a lift at least every other week.
