Jegster TA driveshaft interference

Anyone have issues with driveshaft clearance with the jegster TA?

The front mount in the trans tunnel seems to be out into the DS pathway slightly

Anyone got pics of the area?

I do not have a picture of one, but I have seen one installed on a 3rd gen and there is plenty of clearance still for driveshaft room.

Re: Jegster TA driveshaft interference

Just looking at the pics, lowering my trans may fix the issue. Ill snaps some pics tonight. Good thing I hadnt started building the crossmember yet

Initial concerns were based on a string stretched from output shaft CL to axle yoke CL, with the axle jacked up approx ride height. There was approx 1.125" from string to TA mount bolt head, really raising some eyebrows

Re: Jegster TA driveshaft interference

I didn't have any issues with the front of the saddle or the mount lug, but I did have issues with the back of the saddle interfering. This is with a 3" PST driveshaft and quite a bit more bump clearance (maybe 1.5" more) than possible stock.

Re: Jegster TA driveshaft interference

Figured out my issue

Trans and axle had too much bias to the drivers side. Adjusted more to the center and have tons of clearance now

Not sure what whoever designed this thing was thinking when they chose the hole placement for the tunnel bolts. Several have to be flipped or they will scrub the TA as it travels. One or two Ill have to redrill

Re: Jegster TA driveshaft interference

pocket, i'm running into issues with my 3.5" aluminum shaft. the tolerance is a little too tight for me to feel comfortable running it. i didn't have any issues with the ta hitting any of the bolts, however.

did you finish your new 8.8 yet?

Re: Jegster TA driveshaft interference

Yes, its whats causing the issue. Apparently my mount wasnt welded in the proper location (my fault)

Took an adj panhard and tweaked it some, then the axle could be adjusted center and the TA mount cleared completely. I based it around a 3" DS though, the extra 1/4" radius would make it pretty tight for your 3.5". If your tires/exhaust have enough room, try to bias the axle to the pass side some for more clearance. Might work, might not

If you dont have an adj panhard, then remove yours and shift the axle over until it clears the DS. Measure bolt hole to bolt hole and compare to the stock adj panhard hole to hole length. An adj panhard gives approx 1/2" +/- from stock

i'm not going to run it, not worth the time to possibly make it fit. i would rather not destroy a good driveshaft that someone else can use.

i've got a line on a denny's nitrous ready shaft in a 3" diameter that should fit the bill just fine.
