my steering column locked up on me in my 89 camaro. i put another steering column in everything works but when i go to turn it over nothing happens it wont engage my starter????..im thinking i may have an 88 steering column but everything is the same as my 89 an my old steering column the key did not have a chip in it an the new steering column i put in it doesnt have a chip niether so it should jus work but idk whats goin on...i was told all 89s supposed to have a chip in the key but mine didnt in the first place..what else could it be????plz help

 

oh an i tried to hook up a push start button to see if i could just do it that way but it still wouldnt start unless i sprayed starting fluid in it an still only ran for a couple seconds but ran bad...car ran perfectly fine till the steering column problem
