endlink frrustration
I must be the craziest guy for thinking that things should go back together as easy as it came apart. As simple as sway bar endlinks are they are whoopin my butt. I replaced them with autozone endlinks and can't get them to fit at all like the bar is crooked I know the bar had tension on it that it doesn't hqve now but that can't be the whole problem. Home mechanic with no lift or special tools. Help!!! Any tips. Its like the bar became an in shorter and the end link is too short I'll post pics

I See Your Wheel Is Off And Your Suspension Is Just Hanging,Did You Try Jacking The Lower Control Arm Up Towards The Sway Bar.

Aren't they supposed to be installed and tightened with the suspension NOT in full droop?

Re: endlink frrustration
Really doesn't matter to their function, where the suspension is when they're tightened; unlike a very few certain other parts, notably, control arm bushings.
In the case of sway bar parts, the whole bar and end links and all that, is in its "neutral" position with the car at normal ride height. The bar is only under tension when the 2 sides of the front suspension are at different heights.
For no other reason than to avoid this particular problem, it's ALOT eeeeeeeezier to install these things on ramps, with the wheels on, than to jack the car up and take the wheels off.
OP: put your wheels back on, drive the car up onto your ramps, and make it eeeeeeezy on yourself.

i installed my end links, sway bar and wander bar with the car on the ground. My shop has a 4" lip that i can pull the car up near the edge on 2"x6" boards and i can work on some things (like the aforementioned). Much easier than ramps sometimes.

Re: endlink frrustration
ok i'll wait till I hve the motor back in that might make a world of difference b/c right now it looks like the bolt is about 3/4in too short but its the one that autozone recommends or do I have the wrong ones http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...mString=search like I said the ones I have have a bolt that is roughly 7in long then all the bushings and the washers take up almost all the length. I wonder if a grade 8 (8in) bolt would do the trick and then let me torque it to specs. or maybe does someone have any part#'s see the diff. in the length? http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/pr...uspension.html
