TRACTION! I Have None
Looking for help getting my car to hook.
What we are dealing with is an 87 GTA with a superramed 383. She pulled close to 400 HP at the wheels and over 450 ft-lbs in a nice linear fashion.
Out back I have installed a Strange S60 diff with 373 gears, in between you will find a TKO600.
BMR Tubular control arms and a Sphon torque arm (connects to cross member not tranny) work with a stock panhard bar hold everything in place.
The Strange rear end has integrated LCR brackets and I have them installed on the bottom hole.
QA1 Double adjustable shocks are also installed on the rear end. Front end is stock with the exception of poly bushings all the way around.
Traction is seriously elusive. I plan on adding some MT ET Street Radials this spring but would appreciate any suggestions you guys have in getting this thing planted. I don't know where to start or what to adjust next, nothing I try seams to help.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated!

Start with the subframe connectors, tires, shocks, control arms, panhard bar and maybe some relocation brackets for the rear control arms to put them 2degs down in the rear..
remove the front swaybar for track action.

Re: TRACTION! I Have None
I’m not trying to even suggest I’m able to roll with the big dogs here but my little 5.0 with Eaton posi and 3.42 ratio would also spin from a stop if I punched it until it hooked but I put my tools back in the rear compartment (100 lbs est.) and it actually cut the spin time in half.
Also it’s the tires that will make the most difference. Mine are the hard as rock "dreaded" Cooper Cobras. I’m sure changing them to a street/drag tire and keeping the extra weight in the rear would do it. That would also test out my little built 10 bolt.
Most of the time I just ease into it with a power break until I get a slight roll then let off the break and that cuts down spin for me.

Definitely tires, and relocate some weight to the back. These cars are really light in the back.
Also, I didn't see anything about subframe connectors so if you don't have those you wanna get them before you get that thing to hook up and twist the car like a pretzel.

Re: TRACTION! I Have None
Thanks guys. Good tires are definitely on the list for this spring. Anyone have any experience with the Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials? Its not a daily driver but it is a street car and I would like it to hook on the street.....open to suggestions.
Also is anyone else running the QA1's and if so can anyone provide a starting point for adjusting them?
Thanks again for all your input, help and suggestions!
And ya subframe connectors are on the list too.

Re: TRACTION! I Have None
BEST drag radials seem to be Hoosiers...... BUT the ET DR's will be good(especially the Pro Version.)
Also, check your pinion angle on the torque arm. That will make a big difference. Info on setting that up should be on here as well.
Air pressure. Drag Radials at 20 psi will do good on the street and be OK to drive on as well. If you won't be hitting it from a stop too much, then 32 psi will be better for the longevity of the tires.

Re: TRACTION! I Have None
i'm running the et street drag radials on the street and they seem to help traction a lot, especially with low pressures as suggested. currently i'm running the 255/50/16.

next set i'm gonna try a little bigger tire. it should fit. gonna try the 295/50/16.

even though i'll effectively loose a lil gear ratio with them being a taller tire, i think it will help with traction. kinda wish i would have ordered them the first time.
