Thank you... these ARG steering boxes are pretty tricky units.. There are three sets of bearings on the shaft connected to the pitman arm. Instead of just the one provided by Saginaw. Almost 30 ball bearings Inside compared to the 16 in stock units. The parts themselves are just better looking inside. now if we could just get these made with Billet aluminum bodies. We could drop about 11 pounds.

Re: AGR steering box

I started with a used AGR box. and had it plated. I then sent it in to have AGR redo it to new.. they test and tune it and ship it back ($235) this includes new billet caps. top and end cap...call and check it out..TURN TIME WAS 3 DAYS it was on it's way back..

pick up a chrome pump.$90..then picked up a March Billet Pump $300. as the upgrades continue.(the march pump is better looking.

in this shot you can see the stripped box. before I sent it back to AGR.

I ordered and have received the AGR 225153 from Summit. Everything looks a match except for the size of the connection to the pitman arm. The new AGR seems to have a larger diameter to the pitman arm than the stock Saginaw box. I called AGR and they said the Camaro either came with the smaller 605 Saginaw or the larger 800 series. The smaller diameter about 1 1/8" and the larger 1 1/4...

Is anyone familiar with these two types of boxes and more specifically the pitman arms? I would like to just buy the larger diameter pitman arm but it seems AutoZone and Advanced don't carry it. O'Reilly's seems to have the smaller one (no help)... At a glance, no love from Moog either...

Does anyone know if the Irocs or Z28 came stock with the larger boxes? Any casting numbers or links to pitman arms would be a huge help. Thank you!
