Any pics of stock 91-92 Camaro's with 1" lowering springs?

I own a 91' Camaro with stock alloy rims and am curious what it will look like with 1" lowering springs. I'm looking into Eibach springs. Do any of you guys have pics of your cars lowered if you could please include a breif description of what type and size spring

Don't have the stock wheels, but I do have Eibach springs. They are the sportline series,so they are just a bit lower than than what you were asking about. These are supossed to drop the car about 1 3/4". This is the only pic I could find on my computer right now.You might want to check out the pro-kit series from Eibach if all you want is about an inch drop.

that's exactly the stance I was looking for. Do you have any clearance problems such as speed bumps? By the way who manufatures your cowl hood?

Yeah, the site is down.I should have it back up hopefully in a couple weeks. The hood is an ASCD SS hood.It does look like a cowl hood in the first pic though.I'll post another another pic from the front. As far as clearance problems- it wasn't bad until I put the long tube Hooker headers on.The collectors and the 3" intermediates get scraped up over speed bumps. But with a stock exhaust setup, you shouldn't have too big of problems.

After shaving the handles what sort of door release did you use? What method was used to patch up the handles, fiberglass matting or welded? I've been thinking of shaving my handles on my car, just currious how happy you've been with the results on yours.

I used 35 lb solenoids. My alarm has 4 extra channels.Button one opens the driver's door while button two opens the passenger door. If I hold button two for 2-3 seconds,it opens both doors at the same time. I had a metal plate welded flush in the door handle and the lock cylinder recesses.I have step by step pics,I just have to scan them and I will send you some if you want.My brother did the same to his 89 RS.We both like it.

who makes your solinoids? I've been looking into Autolok, are these what you have? Also who makes the antena your using, I can't remember the name of them. I'm pretty sure your probably using the same one I've been looking into.

The solenoids are from a company called Micro, and the antenna is an amplified unit, but I'm going blank on the company.I think it may be Metra.Oh,and I will scan those pics tonight and send you some.

RSpeed, do you think that you could write a tech article on how shave your handles and the install??

That would be awesome if you could because I know that a lot of people are interested in it but don't have any info.

If you don't could you email me the pics too?

Thanks,
Jesse

I've heard that when you install a solinoid system that you no longer have the use of your door locks and that you are suppose to diconect the link from it. I'm referring to the interior locks. I'm pretty sure this is true it only makes sense but could you verifiy? I have an alarm system that controls the door locks once deactivated it automaticly unlocks the doors. In this case wouldn't I beable to keep the interior locks hooked up? Would this type of set-up provide the most security as opposed to just solinoids without locks?

Im interested in the Eibach Pro kit as well for my 92 Z28. A few questions hopefully you guys can answer for me, did you need anything else to complete the install besides an aligment?? I heard it sets off the geometry of the front end, are spindles the better way to go or not necessary?? Also my car sees the track and currently cuts 1.76 60fts, will theses springs increase/decrease my cars ability to hook?? Im torn between the track springs from Eibach or the pro kit, this car will be my weekend/track/project car. My springs feel tired and an upgrade is coming soon, any opinions or info would be appreciated....

hey RSPEED who did you purchase your wonderbar from. Do you notice any difference in handleing or does it just serve as a safe guard against cracking?

THIRDGENZ28: The geometry isn't thrown out bad enough with just a 1" drop. You shouldn't need the dropped spindles unless you plan on going lower. They may let you hook a little better, but the drag springs should be even better for drag racing. From what I understand, the drag springs will unload the front end to shift more weight to the rear upon launching.

GRAFX- I got the wonderbar from an 87 IROC I had. I couldn't tell any handling differences.Since the lower radiator support is the only thing tying the very front of the frame rails together, the wonderbar helps to keep things lined up better under heavy turning forces.

I felt the wonder bar when I put it on my Formula. It made the steering feel tighter. I think the reason I felt it was because my car's stucture feels weak, I got body flex bad. Plus at the time I needed struts so that might have had something to do with it.

grfx and oldblueZ : Here are the pics you guys wanted to see of my brother's work in progress. These pics are before his polished 16" IROC wheels, cowl hood, and 91-92 Z grille. Notice we shaved his handles and antenna also.We are building a 383 this spring for it.

d@mn, and that's a 2 inch drop? Doesn't look bad at all. What springs are those?

So if I decided to go with the Eibach sport-line series springs will I need to install drop spindles as well?

No.Then it will be low enough to knock reflectors off the road if you do both.

shaving the antenna and door handles

Rspeed,

Two questions

1) For the shaved antenna, what did you replace it with? and What kind of reception do you get?

2) For the shaved door handles, there is always the question of what you do if the battery dies. How did you solve this?

When my dad asked me this, I said that I would crawl through the hatch, then open the door. Then would you get a jump and be on your way?

Thanks,
Jesse

An amplified antenna made just for the shaved antenna mod.Mounts on the inside top edge of windshield. Go to your local stero shop.We sell em for about $25. Not bad reception at all.

2) For the shaved door handles, there is always the question of what you do if the battery dies. How did you solve this?

I always wire in two 6v lantern batteries in series,to a relay, and then a momentary(push-button) switch hidden on the outside of the car.It is there in case my remote or car battery dies,or I lose my remote. You can hide the button virtually anywhere.Inside the top of the gas filler door cavity,up and under the rear bumper, inside front fender, antwhere under the front of the car/engine bay(lots of hiding places),etc. You can use a small 12v
lawnmower type battery, but remember that it will let off fumes from the acid in the battery,so need to vent it or mount it outside of the passenger compartment.

hey R-Speed 2 questions. First didn't you mention earlier that if the car is lowered more than 2" that the geometry will change? I was thinking of mounting the back-up switch for the shaved door handles inside the storage compartment of the rear hatch. Wouldn't this be a better choice instead of the outside?

You can do that too,but I filled in the keyhole because it's a very easy place to break into the car.Happened to me twice. I just use my remote to open the hatch. And I wouldn't go anymore than 2" with springs. If you want to go any lower,I'd personally use dropped spindles instead to help save the extra wear and tear on the parts .

so if I go with the Sport-line series will they cause any excesive wear and tear on other components?

How did they use the rear hatch key hole to break in.

Right now theft is one of my greater concerns. I live in a bad neighborhood and I don't have a garage or anything to hide it in.
