Can I put 295's on my IROC rims?

I know they are a little large for 8" rims, but I love the look of wider tires. Will it be safe to do this?

Thanks

It would fit about as well as the Goodyear blimp would fit in a pickle jar.

I'm just curious where you found 295/??/16 tires The only thing I've seen near that size are gumbo mudders.

I have 295s on my IROC rims and they look great. The only problem I have with them is them rubbing on the inner fender well in the back when I take corners fast.

I have 295's on the rear of my 83 Z28, with the 15 x 7 Z28 rims.. Also have a 9" in the rear so the wheels dont rub, because its been modified to fit with these wheels.. I have 265's up front, and they rub a little on full lock.

They didn't seem to help me. It's one those things were you have the weight dispersed over a greater area, but at the same time you have that much more tread making contact with the pavement.

Assuming that you compaire the same model of tires, you will generaly get more traction from a smaller tire on the correct sized wheel than from a larger tire on a wheel that is too small for it. When mounted on a wheel that is too narrow, radial tires sidewalls are overly wedge shaped hurting the tires performance in both straight line traction and turning. The tread surface also bulges in the center (like an over inflated tire) causing less of the tires tread to push firmly onto the road surface, again hurting traction.
You can get away with a slightly under sized wheel with bias ply tires with fewer sidewall plies and nonradial belt design because they have a flatter tread that is not as dependant on sidewall shape.

Usually 295s should be mounted on a 10"-11" wheel.
