You get what you pay for.
Well i picked up a zexel rear end off a ls1 for 40 bucks if you saw my other post. Thinking i got a great deal. But as the saying goes you get what you pay for.
Finished installing it. Did some some burnouts before i even took it for a test drive. Well the rear passenger tire has a bad whobble. Actually the axle im guessing as i changed the tire to see if it still whobbled and it did. Doesnt make any noises like bearings gone bad just wobbles. Is it the axle? Can i just swap it out ? piece of cake? I was also thinking the axle housing is bent too but probably not. Help a wrencher out.

Re: You get what you pay for.
Bent axle shaft. Very common on 10 bolts with a tire that has any sort of traction. I actually bent an axle shaft in my dana 44. Took me 3 months to realize it. The car had an ever so slight vibration on the highway that I just assumed was the drag radials, and then one day while strapped on the dyno I noticed one rear tire oscillating. Pulled the rear rims off, and started the car with the rear on jackstands. Put it in gear and watched the rear axle flanges and sure enough it had a noticeable bend. Easy enough fix.
Some places can actually mount your bent axle to a machine and grind the hub down smooth again, since they normally bent right at the end there where the wheel mounts. But with a 10 bolt, I'd assume you could pick up another axle shaft real cheap.

So yeah it was a bent axle. Not bad for a 40 dollar zexel. Easy as 1 2 3 to swap out. Thanks bros
