my car is sitting higher on the driver side. it seems to be the front driver causing the problem .i installed shorter springs recently. im putting together a list of things that might be the cause. please add anything you have run into before.
1)spring upside down
2)clocking ( already checked this and its fine but its important enough to be on the list)
3)isolator mounted wrong or wadded up in the spring pocket

 

I actually had the spring sit wrong in the pocket one time. I was SURE that wasn't possible. I'm still not sure how it happened. Yet while jacking the car up to get in there, the pressure/force shifter and heard a giant PING. All fixed.

 

 

Did you fully tighten your A-arm bushings with no weight on the tires? If you did they can bind up.
Did you take off your struts? or move your strut mounts? a really bad alignment combination can cause it to sit different side to side.
Did you leave your car jacked up on one corner for a while? These cars can develop a twist.


Is your front and rear sitting higher on one side than the other or is it only one corner or opposite front/rear.

Did you use new isolator or old ones? if the old ones did you make sure they were seated as they develop shape and can cause issue if not clocked the same.

The most common cause is the spring not being positioned into the pocket so that the end lines up with the recess -- I assume this is what you mean by clocked.

 

Also try swapping the springs side to side and see if it moves with the spring or stays on one side.
Check your spare tire area make sure it isn't full of water or something.

1) when I tightened the control arms the front was on ramps. so there was weight on them.
2) I removed the struts and strut mounts. both were replaced with new parts.
3) I have always jacked my car up by the k-member. its never been left jacked on a single side while I have owned it but who knows what happened to it before I got it. im a little afraid it is torqued. I hope that's not it.
4) the front driver is the highest and the rear passenger is pushed down the furthest.

the pics with my hand are the front wheels. the difference is an inch or so as you can see. the rear also sit different but not nearly as pronounced.

How much has the car moved since the install? Sometimes it will sit weird until its driven a little bit and everything, including the shocks, are given a chance to settle.


and you are positive you have the clocking correct? How is it set? And both sides are the same?

 

its my daily driver. its probably got 600 miles on the new shocks and springs. yes im sure about the clocking. I have one of the check holes covered and the end of the coil is right at the edge of the second hole on each side.

 

ive been fighting some cooling issues and had to put this aside until I got the temp under control. I decided it was time to see what the deal is. I started by looking close at the spring that is sitting correctly. going side to side under the car I could see the two springs were sitting different. the bottom coil was slightly different but I wouldn't think it was enough to cause the car to sit up. then I started trying to look up the spring to see if there was a problem in the top pocket. I couldn't see any issues. I decided i should take pics up each spring to compare. in the camera flash it was very clear what the issue was. the top hat shifted and is wadded up. this has to be the issue. im going to drop the spring tomorrow and correct this issue.

problem solved indeed. got the spring removed and a new hat installed. car is sitting beautifully now. the interesting thing is that the car handles a lot different. its been sitting high on one corner and low on the rear corner since I installed the new springs, ball joints, control arm bushings, wonderbar , strut tower brace and struts. now that the car is sitting level I can tell its all been done. now onto wheels & tires and subframe connecters.
