Idler Arm

What is the best idler arm for my 1989 Iroc-z ?
Is the Napa NCP-268-3635 same as AC Delco45C1065?
Napa gave me a part #PCC 18832. Which is the best one?

Re: Idler Arm

From what I can tell, you want the McQuay Norris FA1399. There are a bunch of other parts being sold with the incorrect geometry.

Re: Idler Arm

There's a thread right below this one ( https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/susp...dler-arms.html ) that details how many of the aftermarket idler arms don't match the original design. ACDelco doesn't make many parts for our cars anymore. They do get parts from other manufacturers and put them in ACDelco boxes though. Depending who ACDelco is getting the parts from, sometimes they're right, other times they're wrong.

The idler arm ACDelco was selling awhile back appears to be a McQuay Norris FA1399E. You can spot the MN part by the blue rubber grease seal. The same part is sold as the more expensive NAPA option, as well as other brands. Unfortunately, NAPA like ACDelCo gets parts from whoever, and just puts their name on the box. So you can't really go by stock photos or even necessarily part number, you just gotta buy and compare what shows up with the one on the car.

I picked up a few of the McQuay Norris FA1399E idler arms last week, sold as RAYBESTOS 4501065 and packed in Spicer branded boxes with part# 450-1065 on the box. The actual part in the box is the exact same piece as the ACDelco 45C1065 pictured on Rock Auto, and the McQuay Norris FA1399E on the MN website.
