hi, i have been told i can get a kit to replace this bearing , but the price is ridiculous. does anybody know what it would be called ?? engine side of the firewall. non adjustable column. 1988 bird.
thanks
It's a steering shaft bushing/bearing kit
$45 from Hawks or eBay
factory one is a bushing and they wear out.
The kits are the Corvette bearing style.
It's easy to install
You might as well do the Astro shaft upgrade as well since replacing the shaft bearing gets you 1/2 way there
There is but ££££ and they would not tell me what it is called ! The link says upper bearing, would that be the one under the dash and the one I want is a lower bearing maybe ? Thanks for the help 👍 .

Ferther searches on eBay do show other being called Lower.
The factory piece is a plastic bushing, they all have play.
The bearing that fits in there that is being sold as an upgrade is the one for a later model Chevy Astro Van, and they do cut down on play even compared to a good plastic bushing.
