Adjustable torque arm and crossmember

Hi all new to to the forum. Not new to 3rd generations had a few of them when I was younger. I just purchased a 91 rs with a "police " swaped 350 tbi ,700r4, and 373 posi, b&m ratchet shifter, and adjustable torque arm and cross member with integrated driveshaft loop.
The problem I'm having is that after changing the busted transmission mount to a energy suspension unit ,the drive shaft hits the loop when decelerating. I have no idea why it started doing this after I changed the trans mount?
Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Adjustable torque arm and crossmember

if you installed the metal spacer when installing the bushing there is your problem. Remove the metal spacer and it will probably clear.

Re: Adjustable torque arm and crossmember

Or, if you didn't install it before, try installing it now. You either need to raise the trans with respect to the crossmember, or you need to lower it; do whatever spacement accomplishes the thing you need.

Re: Adjustable torque arm and crossmember

I did install the metal plate that came with the energy suspension trans mount. The torque arm and cross member were on the car when I got it so I don't know what brand it is. It looks like a sophn unit. I will try removing the plate to see if that helps. It looks like it wouldn't raise the tali end of the tranny that much but ill try it.

Re: Adjustable torque arm and crossmember

SOLVED!!! Previous owner used wrong bolts to fasten the torque arm to the diff. For one the bolts are too skinny ,and secondly they are way too short. The nuts are barley on the the threads. The diff is jumping up and down under acceleration and deceleration and braking. I ordered the longer umi bolts.

I'd get a angle finder and check your angles too. Never know where the last guy had it set.
