oil pan removal with umi k member
What's good everybody I had a question don't know if anybody has done it ...if you have a tubular front k member from umi can you drop the oil pan and change the gasket without jacking up the motor and it's a 6-quart pan on a 427 stroker I'm sure that probably makes a difference

when i swapped pans with my LS3 still in my IROC i held the engine in place by the crank damper and bell housing blocked up and removed the k-member (i was swapping k members from BMR to UMI anyways)
the problem with the k member in place and getting the oil pan off is how much you need to drop it to clear the pick up from the pan baffle and sides, etc...

I changed the oil pan gasket on my 427. 6 qrt oil pan also. UMI K member. I had to jack up the motor a bit. Nothing crazy though.

I forgot to ask you how did you jack up the motor with the cherry picker or did you do it from underneath if you did it from underneath how did you do it

I used a cherry picker. I didn't have to lift it much. I didn't have to take my distributor cap off as I didn't have to go that high. Although my windshield wiper motor cover hit when I raised it. Had to replace that because it cracked. If you can't get the pan off because your crank is in the way. You might need to rotate the motor some and try again.
