Idler arm replacement without the original

My question is how do I replace the idler arm without one in place or from the moog version to the a.c. Delco. As many of you know or will know, the moog idler arm is the wrong part for our cars. I picked up an a.c. Delco according to the part number from the forum post which discusses this topic at length.

Skip step one.

1. Remove old idler arm.
2. Install new idler arm.

Look through the slot in the frame for the marks that show where the old idler arm bolts were located. Install the new arm so the bolts end up in the same location.

Re: Idler arm replacement without the original

the idler arm should keep the center link level with the frame.

the opposite end of the center link is attached to the pitman arm, which is not adjustable. Adjust the height of the new idler arm to match the height of the pitman arm-in relation to the frame of the car. you can measure off common points of the k-member. pretty simple really.

Re: Idler arm replacement without the original

There was a theory historically that the different casting shapes resulted in different function. But side by side the factory original and your [previously reported] incorrect version have the same drop and sweep. They are the same in function.
