Torque arm question

Was there just one model torque that was used on the 3rd gen cars or were there different lengths of these based on engine, transmission, etc.? I'm doing an auto to T5 swap in my '89 Camaro and need to know if my automatic one will work with the F-body T5 I have. Eventually I'd like to switch to an adjustable one but I'm just trying to get the swap done for now so I can put the car back on the road and enjoy banging thru gears.

I think there is a difference but I can't remember what it is.

Re: Torque arm question

All you have to look out for, is which way the "lips" face. Everything else is the same. Also, auto & T-5 use different TA mounts on the trans, but the TA itself is the same.

What about the early cars ('82-'83) that had the THM-200 versus the 700R-4? Would the length be different?...

When I pulled the T5 at the boneyard I made sure to get everything connected to it except the torque arm itself. I even got the driveshaft in case it ends up being a different length. Last time I got the length changed on a driveshaft by a driveshaft shop it cost way more than what I paid for this one. If it turns out to be the same I think I can return it if I don't wait too long.

Re: Torque arm question

Then you should be good to go, with the possible exception of which way the "lips" face.

There are 2 replacement bushings you can buy, each with the appropriate "lips" orientation. Both bushings fit all TA brackets. If yours don't match up it's pretty straightforward to fix.
