Shocks for air ride restomod show car
I am building a pretty comprehensive resto mod show car out of my 91 Z28.
It will have air ride. Bag over shocks in the back from ride tech. They don't offer anything for the fronts so I have to figure that out.
I am almost done with the rear of the car, so I wanted to get the front sorted out on paper soon.
So far, I have been thinking of running Koni yellows up front. Popular, easy to find. People seem to be happy with them. Mounted to Spohn caster camber plates.
I want to run all Bear brakes, from master cylinder to caliper, front and rear. I have seen a couple of people say there are clearance issues with the Bear MC and caster camber plates.
Got me thinking...
Maybe I switch over to something that looks more low profile in terms of caster camber plates.... QA1.
Then I thought, why not use their struts. They are aluminum, so that's a plus for looks.
Thought on that setup? I have seen people say that QA1 caster plates are for "off road use only" but I didn't see that on their website. Maybe I missed it.
I will give them a call in a few days to see what the techs have to say about this. Maybe they have some guidance.

I was on the phone with QA1 support yesterday and did find out that you can run the camber plates with only the proform struts. They are already setup for the coilover configuration, but you do not have to use that setup.
You do that and use the ridetech bags to replace the springs in the front.

So the angle for my resto mod build is to use as few suppliers as I can, and keep each of them a phone call away, in case there are any issues.
This means premium pricing for just about everything, but so far it has been a game changer and worth it.
Rear end - Moser
Fuel system - Aeromotive
Brake (will be) - Bear
Engine/trans (will be) - Blue Print Engines
And so on. I have been undecided about how to do this with suspension. So far I have been getting my stuff from Founders. Crazy inexpensive, and quality seems great.
Mainly didn't want to spend a bunch on suspension since I knew I was making a mash up of parts, and wanted to dump the car as low as possible when at shows. No reason having fancy stuff under there for that.
Anyways, long winded way of saying, I think the decision is made, I will run rear ride tech shocks and QA1 front struts and camber plates.
Doesn't hurt that they look super nice too.

i totally get where you're coming from with trying to use as much as possible from the same vendor(s). i bought the UMI caster / camber plates because all of my suspension upgrades are their parts.
if i had to do it over again with my car, i would get the DSE caster / camber plates. i like the design of how they lock in the setting and you don't have to worry about the plate ever moving around.

BMR seems to still offer a similar yet slightly different looking Set now.

Re: Shocks for air ride restomod show car
Yeah, I have seen those BRM units. They are OK.
There are actually quite a few companies that offer caster camber plates, but very few that offer as complete a solution as QA1 or DSE where the plates are designed in conjunction with the strut as a complete "system".
This completeness is what I am looking for, for my build.
