Best way to raise front end, 5-1/2" is to low

Good Day All! I've had this for a year or so but just now getting to some of the large problems. First one I want to solve is front end height. It only has a bit over 5" ground clearance on the front spoiler. For our county (and some highway) roads it bottoms out on almost everything. Trans pan, oil pan drain, exhaust just behind the headers. All dented. I was thinking coil over struts but couldn't find any. Maybe longer front coil springs? I'd like to gain another 5 inches so the bottom of the car sits level. As you can see in the picture the front has been hitting everything. Thanks for your info!

As sofa suggested, different coil springs. Or weight jacks. They give you the ability to adust height rather quickly.

how is the car lowered now?
if youre bottoming out alot, your current springs are probably toast.
install some much better, higher pressure springs and you wont have an issue.
5.5 inches of clearance is quite a bit.
i dont think any of my vehicles have that much clearance.

Longer coil springs might be the way to go.

Thanks for the reply! I'm not sure what a "weight jack" is?

Thanks for the reply! I'm not sure how it was lowered but the A arms are the stock ones. If I had to guess as to how, I think they used a torch to heat the coil springs to let it drop down.

This is not good. You'll need to buy new springs to fix this terrible modification.

Here is a link to UMI's weight jacks, which I have: 2065 – 1982-1992 GM F-Body Weight Jack System, Front

Weight jacks won't raise the front of the vehicle any. They allow lowering of the vehicle by pretty much any amount that you want within limits. This allows the owner to set the exact ride height that he wants, similar to coil overs. Front coil overs don't play well with 3rd gens.

Weight jacks are just a spring with a screw jack under it. Longer set of springs will raise the car. Used to be you could buy almost any spring you wanted from Blue Coil. I don't know where people are buying them now.

we all did this in the 70s/80s before the parts were available.
It worked. got us the look for next to no money
the downfall is what you are experiencing.
the spring rates get heavily modified and dont work the way they need to.
Get some good replacement springs and that most likely all you need.
i would replace the struts while you do the job.
Springs arent epxensive, have a good day

To the original poster user4579 I noticed you are located in North central Indiana. I just removed the stock front springs from my car because I had the carolina lean thing happening and my front end was in the air. I just purchased and I am in the middle of installing all new BMR suspension parts including the front springs. PM directly if you are interested in my old stock springs that to me sat up way to high.
