Methods of checking engine mounts??

What are some of the methods I can use to check the conditon of my engine mounts. Right now I have a poly tranny mount with my stock engine mounts, is this bad?

one way is to rev the motor with the car in park or neutral, and watch the motor with the hood up. if the motor moves your mounts are gone.

... you can also look around the bolt head on the motor mount (between the shell and the mount) and see if it's shiney, indicating movement.

And a poly trans mount is OK (maybe a lil noisy) with stock engine mounts.

I'll be changing mine when I do the front brake and suspension upgrade.
