I usually put the jack stands on the sway bar bushings on the front and back.Hope this helps. If anyone can think of a reason this is a bad idea, let me know. But it seems safe to me.

Well concidering how that part will have to be moved durring this perticular operation it would cause excess force on the bushings.

I always placed jack stands under the "frame" rails. If you look under the car you will see them. They look like boxed rails that are connected to the body. If you are going to use excessive force, I'd keep the jack positioned close to the stands for insurance.

Those pieces look way too flimsy to hold the weight of a 3,000+ pound car over my head... but to each their own, I suppose.

I'm with Pukka, ALWAYS the frame rails. Plus a jack under the a-arm I'm working on.

I put mine under the "frame rails" when I did my torque arm and it held up just fine. It didn't even flex when I lowered the jack.

But as suggested, I kept my spare jack underneath the car for insurance.

What's behind those pieces? The sway bar and frame rails. But on the other hand, I can see how that would make a person nervous.I'm not going to stop doing though, it's very convenient and the jack stands are out of the way.

i use the frame rails as well. my car has been lifted up and i have gone under it about a million times. i feel that they are the best place to support it, without a doubt.

If you have subframe connectors then i would say put them under those where they meet the frame. If not the frame is definatley the place to go. Unless for trans work in which case the bushings are just fine. You guys are really underestimating the strength of this steel here. It is some good stuff.

Thanks guys. I have had it up on the frame for the last few days and its been fine. Now if only I could get it back on the ground. Been having so much trouble with this strut/bushing install.
