How to get Sports Car Handling
I would like to know how much i would have to invest into my 87 IROC-Z to get a bad A$$ handling car. I was driving my mustang yesterday up one of those highway onramps that loop around a full 270º and i was going 65 mph with no problem...i was wondering if it is posible to get this good of a grip with a third gen at a reasonable price. I was on spohn's website and seen that a full suspension upgrade would cost me about $2000...is that accurate? Thanks for everyones help!

Nahhh...not $2000.
SFC $200
LCAs $105
LCA relocation brackets $65
KYB struts and shocks $160
Strut tower brace $130
Panhard Bar $85
Now if you go w/ polygraphite bushings, then that can get a little expensive, but you still shouldn't be near $2000. However, if you start doing things like tubular control arms and crap like that, you'll definately be around $2000.

I have Iroc sways on my V6 with some pretty good tires... I hit 270* ramps at 70+... no squeels... and no serious lean...

Hey Saleen201, I'd like to see what that looks like.
BTW I've got a friend named Debbie Blaylock, ever heard of her in the Saleen circles?

Figure out what you want to end up with, and start looking at places like Ground Control, Guldstrand or Performance Automotive.
These folks know and understand our cars.
Checkout my post about the 'Flyer' and getting it back out on the road. I just upgraded the suspension and brakes.
I'm hopeing to be able to sustain 1.02g's when I'm done, road race at some of the premiere tracks in the area for fun and still be able to drive it to work everyday.

here ya go...ohh and no sorry never heard of her?
Yo missed the most important parts when you listed what you want. I've spent about 1500 on my car and it handles VERY well. The most important thing is the front end. Ply or poly graphite bushings, a good strut tower brace, springs and dampers, and all of the steering parts are in good condition (ie. centerlink, tie rod ends, ect.). Then wory about lower control arms and a panhard rod, which are great. After at do all of the other stuff, such as torque arm, tie rod sleaves, lower control arm relocation brackets and other things.
