With T-tops, the answer is always yes. There is a lot of body twist and flex without the full roof, even with the T-bar in the roof. I have the Hotchkis weld in's

Also, get a strut tower brace and a Wonder bar if you don't already have one. These three things will go a long way towards strengthening up the frame.

You won't believe how solid your car will feel afterwards.

Bought mine through Summit Racing. I don't recall how much. It was about 3 years ago. At Summit, I believe they were part #HSS-4001 and they are currently $185.95+ shipping. There are others available that may be less expensive. The one piece of advice that I got at the time was to get the weld in's rather than the bolt ins. The bolt in's can loosen up. I have no experience with the bolt in's though. That's just what I was told. Some people bought the bolt in's and welded them.

I'd also say to check out Spohn Performance. (Ad at the top of this page) I'm running his on my 84Z and they made a world of difference in how the car feels.

I just ordered Wolfe chrome moly SFCs for $188.00. Mild steel should be less. I would go with Wolfe, or Spohn because they are really good products and the price can't be beaten. Also, Kenny Brown has some nice SFC's for $250 or so.

That person at Edelbrock is confused! I have Pro chassis mild steel tubular SFC's and SLP Headers, Borla cat back exhaust! Seems to work on my car just fine. 1989 GTA 355 w/ T-Tops

Does SLP offer subframe connects for third gens? I have only seen 4th gen ones in their catalog...

What do subframe connects and a STB do for a stock 305 t-top car with 100k on it?? Do they help to eliminate existing squeaks and rattles (I have been told that...), or do they merely keep new ones from cropping up, and keep the chassis more rigid longer? After having a 4th gen for over a year, the Formula I am driving now and thinking about buying feels like a rattle trap

Any comments on whether or not SFCs and a STB would be good for me?? I hope they will help me out!

Every third gen should get subframe connectors, if you don't already have them. They connect the rear subframe with the front subframe. Just the body of the car holds the middle of the car together(unibody)

I am not sure if SLP makes SFC's for our cars, however although SLP makes a good product, they are normally overpriced...

As far as the rattles, I bought mine in hopes of eliminating some of the rattles in my car as well, it doesn't help that much. It does help with chassis flex which is exaggerated by the T-Tops! I am really happy with mine and do not regret the purchase!

If you don't have a tubing bender and aren't somewhat talented as a fabricator, just buy them. I am not saying that you can't do it, I am just saying they don't cost that much and it won't be an easy job! Sorry I don't have any pictures.
Try Sphon's site, he will have a picture there!

Ok, so I shouldn't expect any change in the amount of rattles However, what does the car feel like if it hits a bump?? Do you get sorta a more solid "thud" than before?? Just wondering how much different and better the car will feel with them. I know they help regardless...just curious about the ride
