Best MEATS???

I'm looking into getting new tires for my Formula. I got 16X8 WS6 rims and was wondering what you people might suggest in the way of performance tires? I'm looking for your experience with different brands. I'm specifically interested in "Z" rated tires for the perfomance stance.

Thanks....

That depends greatly on the intended purpose you want to use them for.

Standard Z rated tires: I like the kuhmo exta supra 712 I got mine for just under $400=$85 each plus mounting and balancing all the way arround they have a great tread pattern for wet weather not too great for dry traction launching on the street.

I also like the bfg kdw From what I here it has great wet and dry traction and is a great performance tire but is more expencive.

Drag radial. Nitto 555r drag radial: can't beat it on the street.

Dot approved drag tire I am getting the mickey tompson et street.

For auto cross tire I would go with the new nitto 555r II auto x tire.

Just my opinions but hope this helps.

I ordered the SLP take-off Goodyear Eagle GS-C's 245/50-16. It's a directional tire(rights and lefts). Alot of people like them, someone said they are 'soft and sticky'. I haven't got them mounted yet, probably Thrusday. Pretty sweet looking tread pattern if you look at a right and left sitting next to each other like they'd be on your car... they're also Z rated.

Firestone Firehawk SZ50EP's. Awesome in the rain, even better on dry pavement. Sidewall protection lip for your rims. An awesome all around tire.

My best 60' time was 2.01 on those tires with my LB9/700r4/2.73's. Check Tirerack.com for their rating and price(s).

I'm using kuhmo ecsta supra 712 too and they are the dogs bollocks! Wet traction is amazing compared to by old cooper cobras and BFGs, and the dry is even more amazing. For the price you can't really get anything better in my opinion.

Tires

BFG Comp/TA Radials (Z-Rated)
I love them!
I used to like Firestones until I had a set that split at the sidewall. That was when I decided to try the BFG and stayed with them ever since!

Ive used bfg's, goodyears, and a couple of small companies. Out of them all, I have liked the falken's zues 502's th best. They are not the greatest for strait line, but handling wise, they rock. It's a shame, the firehawks re going to be the next try, but a 2 fr one sale just ended about 2 weeks ago. Oh well, my brother is a manager of tire sales, so i still can get some discount.

I'm with turningfast, I really like the Falken 502s (I've also had Goodyears and BFGs) The 502 is affordable and predictable on dry pavement but with the directional tread the Falken is a much better wet weather tire than the others.

From what I have understood they don't make the comp T/A ZR tires anymore. I think they are avilable from tire distributors that still have leftover stock but BFG isn't making them now.
