Last resort! TBI on a ZZ4

Ok.. I did a search and didn't seem to get what I was looking
for.. so here it is...

I am planning on getting a GM PERFORMANCE PARTS ZZ4 CRATE
ENGINE. I am torn between staying TBI and going TPI.
I won't make this thread a debate, I'll just ask this.

Lets assume I decide on TBI

1.) Do I use the same POD that is on my LO3 and then get some
different injectors?
2) Is my computer worth keeping and burning PROMS?

IF 1=yes, then I have no idea what injectors I should get.. any suggestions?

If you are going to stick with TBI for the ZZ4, I am pretty sure you can keep the same computer, but you are going to have to do some major burning of chips to get a good combo. It also depends on the year of your comptuer I think.

Also, it is not advisable to keep the same L03 pod and use different injectors. There is not enough air flowing through the L03 TBI. Your best best is to get a Holley Projection manifold (or some good single plane intake manifold and use an adapter w/ the Holey 670 TBI unit. Even though, it will still be cheaper for you to stick with TBI instead of getting something else.

I believe the ZZ4 comes with a carb manifold already, so you could just get an adapter plate and get the 2" bored 670 TBI w/ 350 injectors. Remember though, the ZZ4 comes with the manifold off of the engine, so it would be your best bet to change to something good right off the bat instead of changing it later.

The last thing though, you don't want to stick with Carb. Try getting some sort of fuel injection on the ZZ4

Also

Ok, I read somehwere that the Holley Injectors themselves are crap tho.. as for FI, I do want FI, that's why I am deciding on atleast going TBI if I dont do something else, I heard TPI is useless on these engines.. If I dont do TBI I will probably by the Stealth ram setup, if I can find out where to get those, and how much they are....

I think you can buy some flow matched injectors from TurboCity if you don't want to go with the Holley injectors.

The StealthRam setup is pretty sweet too. It however, seeing as how you don't already have a TPI setup is gonna cost you around $3000 for everything. I am sure it includes the injectors and the computer though.

If you already have a TPI setup, I think you can get away with it costing you around $450 or so. I can't quite remember what the price was for it, but you may wanna search the TPI forum, they have a bunch of info about the Stealth Ram setup there.

holley now uses gm injectors, so that is not a problem anymore. that issue existed back when they were using a differnt style of injector. you will wanna step up to either a 454tb or the holley for sure. i woudl look at 65lbs injectors for it, if you can get bigger ones you can run a lower fuel pressure and put less strain on the injectors. no need to spend a bunch of money on flwo matched injectors, the flow rates are close enough to use and tune without paying twice the price.

Check out my sig for details but I kept the TBI on my ZZ4. I got a set of injectors out of a Z71 truck and set the fuel pressure regulator wide open. It absolutely pins you to the seat. I can smoke smoke em' with 2.73 gears. I may have been better off with Police injectors or high flows from turbo city but that's all I could find. I have the Hypertech chip and thats it.
