305 vortecs

I did a search on these and didnt come up w/ enough to satisfy me so Ill ask. The general concensus (sp) was that they are too expensive. Well I can probably get some cheap or even better for a trade for some stuff that I have. I will only do this if it has a TBI intake as well because theres no sense in buying a new manifold right now.

Initialy I wasnt going to touch the 305, and just work on all the other stuff so that the 400 can go in but If I can get a few more HP out of it now and have something worth selling later It may be worth my time.
What do you think.

Also, If we cant work a trade he probably just wants to sell the whole engine. What would be a good asking price for the heads and intake. If anyone is interested let me know.

So, Are these heads going to be worth while to put on or should I save myself the time and wait.

from some pics we had a couple years ago now, they didn't look much differen't than 305 TPI heads(different intake port and bolt pattern of course). They didn't have the kidney chamber that the L31 heads did. But you can only tell so much from a picture. UnderdogRS has/had some on his 305 maybe he'll chime in.

What exactly is he trading or selling, a 305 or 350vortec engine? If this engine has a tbi intake on it then it dosn't have the heads your looking for.

Its a 305 vortec complete engine that he has. I have no idea what kind of intake it should have on it. please fill me in. I would only want the heads, intake (if it will work w/ tbi) and cam if its better and not trashed (odd story). I would be trading him a compete disasembled 305 because I have no use for it and nothing but trouble trying to sell it.

anyone know the casting #s I checked on mortec.com and found one that was diferent from one someone posted on another board.

I searched for that underdog guy and found nothing on 305 vortecs.

Try DM91RS. I'm pretty sure he'll post here, and he's running Vortec heads on his 305.
I think he's having a few problems, tho.

Is this guy claiming that the Vortec heads came stock on this 305 that he has?
I didn't know you could get a late model 305 with Vortec heads (stock), maybe I'm wrong, tho.

Yes there are two different Vortec heads. 305 and 350..

Mine work fine except for when the weather is cooler and I think that's intake heat related. Not sure. Just what I've read. Now that it's hot here they run pretty well. I guess the fuel atomizes better when warmer as the BLM's are coming down closer to 128 than they were and I haven't changed the prom or fuel pressure.

The 350 version are what I have. As I've said before they rock at heavy throttle

The L30 (305) Vortec heads just borrow the raised runner from the L31's. The chamber shape is the simple half moon and it's fast burn. Kind of reminds me of the L98 Al heads.
