A small leap for TBI

My sig says it all...

I'm now getting 255 RW Torque, whereas our puny LO3's had 255 torque at the flywheel! I've also made a 10 HP leap with engine HP as well. Now to see what this translates to at the track... I think maybe mid 15's.. perhaps breaking 90 mph?

I'm going to a dyno here on the 29th. I'm gonna get a before and after mods comparison. The mods start showing up in the mail about a week after I get it dynoed

torque is easy to get on our TBI's it hp that is the hard part for some reason. On my last dyno befor my cutout, pulleys, chip, and fanswitch. I had 275 pounds of torque and 163hp. Ill be getting new numbers soon.

You won't get torque and hp to match up until 5252 RPM and even then its still pretty hard to do. Torque is easy to free up I admit, but you have to look at what mod does what in terms of torque and hp. Your HP is based off the acceleration factor generated by your max torque. Hence starting at 2400 RPM which is what a stock lo3 has a peak at torque falls off from there as the rpm goes up as the power (hp) generated goes up. So your torque and hp by 5252 rpm will technically be 1:1. Those who have done a dyno will see that the fall off on the curve and hp will come to a single intersecting point. At a certain point it becomes hard to generate any more hp because its almost litterally used just to sustain that rpm. mods that increase hp more than torque are mods that will increase rpm capability. Mods that have no affect on rpm, but increase airflow effeciency and that will generate torque more than hp. You eventually hit a balance between the two as you'll find you get limited by other factors. The point is right now lo3's are severely airflow restricted. This keeps rpm down and torque down.
