OK guys, this is probably very simple but I don't know what to look for on a tbi. My engine sounds like a overdriven 8-71 on alchol with all the surging it is doing. The idle is very low too.

What is the deal? I can unplug the coolant temp and it idles fine but you can't kill it and restart it because it is flooded.

 

a bad coolent sensor could be the cause of that really rich and poor idle. its the one on the front of the intake manifold correct? if so just replace it. go to the part store and ask for a new one and make sure its the 2 wire one.

 

I already replaced the coolant sensor and it didn't help. What about egr could it be stuck open some and cause this.

 

Check fuel pressure and filter.

 

I had this problem. It turned out to be a leaking intake manifold gasket. I replaced that and the problem was fixed. Well, I also replaced all the vacuum hoses with silicone hoses.

 

Need way more info, what motor (stock) and does the engine run fine at higher rpms.

 

stock engine and runs great.. new iac, new coolant temp, new tps sensor.
