was there a big difference in power/torque? I heard it helps big with low-mid. Just wondering.
Also did anyone put 1.6 roller rockers? and is the power difference noticable? thanks.

I haven't used either. What I've heard is that the edelbrock performer tbi still has a hard time breathing up high. It seems to be the only manifold that is a 100% direct replacement as far as fitting goes. However, most people on this board will tell you to go with a carb manifold w/ adapter plate-which is the route I would probably take. The lifters, IMO, would help out reasonably as long as you research which ones offer the best performance. They help the cam lift a little, but as far as that goes, I would have to suggest an LT1 cam, just because they're so cheap. Even by the time you throw in a new timing chain, the LT1, gaskets, and even lifters, you will still be pretty close to what 1.6 roller rockers will cost ya, but with better results.

hmmm...but if I put carb w/adapter will it fit under teh stock hood? thats one thing I"m wondering. Cause I have a customed my stock hood and would like to keep it. Instead of putting a cowled one or something. Atcually I have a L98 cam in it already...which is small I guess compared to the LT1 cam...hmmmm...I'll research more I guess...thanks
I use this manifold. Its definetly MUCH better than stock. It pulls alot harder even up to 5500rpm (most ive ever taken it). Its a direct replacement but i had trouble with mine because it sits further back on the intake. had to bend the fuel lines alittle, shorten the TV cable, and now i have to remove the power brake line everytime i want to put oil in.

Which manifold?
Whats the part number for the intake manifold we should use? I agree that the bore on the TBI is WAY too small, but which manifold should we use (part number please)
Also, will it clear the hood, even with a drop-base aircleaner?
Thanks a lot in advance!

so what are u thinking about getting? a single, a tbi preformer, a normal preformer? i belive a preformer (for carb) u also gota remember the intake does not have a port in the back of it to go to the heater core for a input of coolent so u have to put it somewere else, such as the front of the intake manifold next to the t-stat.... inless its different from rpm vortec.. prolly, damn vortec.

I asked that same question to edelbrock and they told me that a carb manifold with an adapter plate just doesn't work well. Kinda opposite from everyone who has used one. I'm still not sure what I'm going to try. I'm thinking edelbrock tbi manifold with a port and polish job on it.
The TBI performer is nice IMO. A direct replacement. Everything switches right over. Only reason I wish i would have went with the carb intake and adapter is because Im hoping to be switching to a 350 soon and Ill need a 454 TBI or a 670 Holley which has a larger bore than my edelbrock TBI manifold.

I'm guessing the only reason edelbrock claims a carb manifold w/ adapter plate won't work as well is because they want to cover their butts. i.e if you go with a single plane and leave the stock cam, the results are probably going to leave you dissappointed, and edelbrock doesn't want to be blamed for a bad suggestion. The edelbrock manifold is meant for truck applications as previously stated, so gains will be down low. If you're like me though, with a torque monster, a little sacrifice off of the low end for some good high rpm gain would be an excellent trade imo. As far as hood clearance goes, the edelbrock performer tbi is a 1/4" taller than stock. Most adapter plates are between 1/2" and 5/8".
P.S. An adapter plate will add extra plenum (spell??) which is good for more power as well.

I have a new eldebrock performer intake manifold sitting on the side. So I guess imma just buy the plate and throw it onto my car. I just hope that it all fits under my hood when I'm done. I dont wanna give up my custom hood.
