Just bought 91 RS

Hello,
I just bought a 1991 RS with 305 tbi, I love this car but it is extremely slow best of 16.4 @ 86.4 w/ G-Tech.
I'm wanting to get it in the 14.5 range like my old 92 B4C 305 TPI I sold a while back.

What do you guys think it would take to run this time, keeping the TBI.

I'm thinking within the next month I'll do a full exhaust system,
probably slp 1 3/4 headers or elderbrocks. Flowmaster American Thunder 3 inch catback system single exit.

L69 Cold air dual snorkel air cleaner,
Holley 670 CFM Throttle body
Elderbrock Performer Intake Manifold

Im not sure if I should go with the Vortec Heads, or the World Products Torquer heads, I want to keep it completely emmision Legal, with Maybe the LT1 Cam.

Posi traction 3.42 rear disk brake rear.

Do yall think this combo will run the 14.5 range?
IF not what would it take?

Thanks

I should hope so...youd probably run better than that actually. You will have to get a custom chip or it wont run right at all. With the lt1 cam, world heads, and intake you should have it.

You should definately run better than 14.5 with those mods. And don't forget about suspension parts, or you'll just burn your tires off real quick

For some examples of what it takes to make TBI do that, go to the link in my signature. Good luck.

I have the same make and year. I have a 5 speed manual T5 (rare for this year, yours probably auto). Anyway, I would start of simple with a K&N filter, then move to exhaust...Dont be dumb though. Make sure you do a FULL CAT back underneath. If you wanna be daring, just rip out the piece of sh*t stock Cat that it has, and go CATLESS. But you wanna be legal, so get a new one. Also, recommend 3 inch all the way, with a flowmaster 80s series. Thats what I have, and it sounds terrific.

I hope it does run those times, I know it will take alot to take off 2 seconds off the quarter.
My car is a 5 speed, Im fixing to order the exhaust.

I don't know which cat to order do I order the Dynomax 2-Way Converters or the 3-Way Converters w/AIR Inlet Tube from Jegs?

Hi,
Wanted to let everyone know about where the car stands.
When I first got the car The best time I managed was a 16.7 at 86 with my g-tech.
I got the 3 inch cat installed with the flowmaster 3 inch force II system and managed to get a 16.3 at 88.
I bought a Dual snorkel air cleaner from IrocZ Dave and Have turned a 15.62 at 91.6.
It has also been colder around here, in the 40's, and these are G-tech times.
But they have been real consistent.
Next I'm going With Headers probably in 2 weeks. Have'nt decided which ones to get.
Any ways just wanted every one to know what these mods have done.
Later
Mike

Thanks. It's a few months old. I have since put the diverter valve back on and put on some magna braid. And I fixed the drivers side duct work and got rid of the silver duct tape. That was a poor effort on my behalf.

I have Hooker headers, 3" cat, 3" cat-back, open air element air cleaner, 3.42 gears and advanced the timing 6-8 degrees and turned 15.006 @ 91.27 at Norwalk Raceway. I'm planning to install Edelbrock Performer intake, LT1 cam, Torquer 305 and a fuel pressure regulator head over the winter. The cam and the heads are the biggest problems with the L03.
