carb manifold

i was looking at my friends four barrel carb manifold and his two barrel carb adapter that the barrels of my experiment tbi line up to and i was just wondering why couldnt you buy an egr four barrel manifold and the adapter and drill the holes for the tbi to bolt up to the spacer since the carb manifolds flow more and there are alot more different models of them

They work as good as or better than a tbi specific intake.

I don't know, it's still on the engine stand. Realy though I know it won't. I'll have to go to a cowl hood or make my own hood scoop.

Due to using a 454tb on a square bore intake I had to use a spread bore to square bore adapter then a home made tbi adapter plate. If you look real close you can see both on top of the manifold.

The engine is a 350 Vortec out of a "96"Tahoe. As far as the tb goes I just cleaned it real good in a can of carb cleaner the sprayed it with chrome spray paint. I don't think it will looK that good after it's been in the car for very long, any gas that gets on it will probably wipe it out. I didn't think about it at the time but I might have to use the techline coating that I used on the headers to keep it looking that good all the time.

When the gas hit's that tb do you think that the paint will come off and get into your moter. I hope not that could cause you some problem's

I didn't paint the throttle bores, even if I did it's not likely it would hurt anything, it would just get burned in the combustion process.

It's made from 1/2' aluminum plate, my father bored out the holes on his lath. As far as doing this a home you might have to use a different method. You could probably buy one cheap enough that it wouldn't be worth spending the time to try. I believe Tas had a source on them with a price below 20 bucks.
