New manifold installed today......and a problem

Today was new intake manifold day. I put a Edelbrock Preformer Manifold (for a carb car) on my 92 RS automatic, with the original TBI. It seemed like everything was going to be fine until I started it back up. With everything hooked back up the car now idles at 2000 RPMS, and when I put a load on it (Drive or Reverse) the engine takes a huge dive down to 500RPMS and struggles very hard to stay alive making it virtually impossible to drive. After about 5 seconds of being in gear, the car sputers and dies. Also, when shifting in to drive, it SLAMS into gear, feels really bad......

I have never done any work with the distributor and rotor before. I marked the distributor when I took it off but I think something went wrong when we put it back in. I think that I have a timing problem here......way too advanced?

What do you guys think?

Thanks
Jason

if the car was fine before i would first check the plug wires are all on then check the timing. My old truck did something like that but it was only a bad wire but it sounds like you may need to check the timing.

If it is idleing at 2000RPM, it sounds like you have a vacuum leak, or several. I'd go back and recheck all of your vac hoses. The dist may cause it to run poorly, but would not explain the high RPM idle
