TBI clearance
TBI clearance
OK, does anyone have the height specs on the STOCK TBI intake manifold.???
DOES ANYONE HAVE THE HOLLEY TBI MANIFOLD.?? if you do, does it fit under the stock hood?? will it fit under the stock hood.. If I have 14x3 air cleaner ??, I know the edelbrock TBI performer will fit ... but DOES ANYONE have the 1" TBI spacer... what sort of clearance does this give you, with either the edelbrock, or the holley, ??? does it really make THAT MUCH of a difference
thanks guys...
ANY advice, ideas, are welcome:hail:

i have a 1/2" TBI spacer, 14x3 flat based open element with a flat top, and the stock intake and i am pushing the limit. A 1" spacer would probably fit with a drop base but youll have to do modifications to the throttle linkage and TV cable which might not back it worth it, thats y i went with the 1/2". I hear that the edelbrock intakes dont benefit from the TBI spacers because they already have longer runners compared to the stock intake so that is a plus with hood clearance. Same probably goes for the holley 2" tbi intake, but if you want to use EGR youll need a 5/8" spacer so that your TBI will clear the valve.
Also do a search on these intakes, questions like this are asked almost everyday.

The stock manifold is the same height as the Performer RPM without the tbi adaptor.
The holley pro-jection fits under the stock hood fine, I cant tell you how much clearance you'd have though. The performer rpm + holley adaptor rubs the bottom of my hood so I cant put a wingnut on it.

you have to use a non-drop base cleaner....or is it the other way around.....I cant remember...but I know you can use the one and not the other.
Yes and No...
Yes it will fit without the spacer and a non-drop base cleaner. Unfortunately, if you need the EGR valve, you have to have the spacer for it to fit. If you put in the spacer, you will need to have something like a 14 x 2 or 2.5" cleaner..... Or you could do what I did and get the ASCD hood! No space problems with my setup.
