TBI Cam

Anyone have any ideas on what type of cam I should use to upgrade my 305 T.B.I. Elelbrock said they didn't have one for the EFI motor and to try Comp Cams pt#08500-8, does this sound right? Any sugestions?

I am fairly new to the F-bodies but loving them(I crossed over from sport compact cars) In the 3 months that I've had the car I've added a Flowmaster 80 series cat-back, Edelbrock intake, 180 stat, MSD plug wires and Splitfire plugs. No rear end mods, yet, what to get posi and short throw shifter. So what type of cam are those specs for? and will I need to upgrade/change the heads, lifters, springs, etc??

those specs are for the part# you had in your post.

heads you don't have to , but the ones on the TBI are junk, if you are willing to spend a few hundred and do heads, you will be very happy.

lifter, no, hydrolic rollers do not need to be replaced like on flat tappets.

springs , i would change these for sure.

but if you change heads, do note that the cam you want will probably change.

best recomandation i have, is to call comp cams, and let them pick you a cam.

Welcome back to the light side, anyway, i would also toss the spitfires, and just stick with normal old delcos (A/C Delco)

I'm not sure about sticking with the AC delcos. I just put in some bosch platinum +4's with 8mm wires and I'm very very pleased with them. Somethin to definitely check out.

If anything it was the new plugs that made the difference, but if you feel ok spening like 4.00 a sparkplug, by all means, feel free...

I've always had the best luck with ACDelco standard plugs. Rapidfires worked nice as well, but no justification for $4/plug

As for the 2 or 4 tipped jobs, I think they are about as useful as the stickers they come with.

I would save up and do heads/cam at the same time.

Well, I went ahead and got the LT1 cam and springs gonna wait an see if I can get a deal on some roller rockers before I tear into the motor figure I should do it while I'm in there. As for the plugs, I've trid the delco's and they work great but, I do see an improvment with the 3 extra leads.
