lt1 camshaft???
hello,... i did a search already and didn't see a specific answer but what is a good baseline for the lt1 camshaft timing setting... should i start at 6 degrees or at 8?
i have only done the mods listed in my sig.
i am going to set it up tommorow. i just wanted to ask tonight to make sure. i think i am going to start with 6 degs. unless someone suggests other wise.
thanks for any info you all can provide.

They're two totally different things. Please be more specific.

i heard 8 was the way to go from several people and i was not talking about the cam the cam is lined up on the dots and i am not changing that. mine was set at 4 before i changed it i am still working on getting the timing chain cover back on!!! it came off without haveing to drop the pan but it appears it won't go on unless i drop it!!! any tips for that would be nice!! thanks

You have to drop the pan. I had the same problem. Came out fine but a bitch to put back in. I had to yank my y-pipe off so I could get to all the bolts on the pan and slightly pull it down pull the timing cover back on and then bolt everything back up. Only way to do it and keep the gasket good.

LoL, well seal it up good and make sure its clean when ur gobbing that stuff on it to seal it up.
It pulls strong but will pull stronger if u tune it and get a custom prom burned. Even more if u have headers and a cat-back. I set my timing at 8 degrees and my fuel pressure at 12 psi for right now. I havent went to the track yet because I am waiting to install my K-Motion springs so I can rev is past 4500rpms safely without worrying about anything. I guess these cams with the right tuning and setup can almost pull to 6000rpms. I guess we'll find out when I get back from the track.
