Stupid, obvious question

With the mods I have (See Sig) on a completely stock Throttle Body with 350 injectors, is it a strong possibility that the stock throttle body is restricting me to under 4k RPM's? Thats where I feel I am having to shift.

If it is, I am probably just going to a HSR. (Form of TPI for those that dont know.)

*Is scared of car now.*

I am pretty sure I am doing close to high 13's in the 1320 with that big of a restriction? (Trapped at 100 at the street races with a drawn out 1/4 mile)

I don't have this car setup right yet, but

I can't control my torque, hopefully the HSR will do that. I heard that it was almost designed with our 3rd gens in mind. It has less torque than the TPI, however alot more HP and top end. This will allow us to get decent traction off the line without too much tirespin and still HAUL *** after the 60' and into the 1000' range. Have you seen the articel GMHTP did on HSR yet? If not, I posted it I think on the TPI board. Basically, when I get it, I should run high 10's low 11's with good tuning, and still drive the car to work!!! Basically I'll be getting almost 100 more HP with the whole setup, especially with the injectors and higher fuel pressure.

I also have a problem pulling well with my 454TBI, It really drops off at 5.5k RPM and it pulls like hell in the next gear at a mear 3k RPM. I think its a trottlebody "BRICK WALL" at 6K. I personally don't know anyone taking a TBI over 6K and still running well. This is just my opion, take it as you will.

the lt4 cam you have is relativly mild compaired to other high performance roller cams. Its a very good match to a performance oriented tbi or a mild carb setup. I suspect that without the tbi, or a 454 tbi, you could probably get it out to around 5k before you see a drop off. Youd probably also run in the mid to low 13's.

just out of curiosity, what kind of heads do you have? If theyre stock smoggers or the tbi heads then youd really benifit from getting a good set of AFR's with that HSR.

another thing ive found out about the stock speedos is that they seem to register 5 mph over compaired to the VSS and radar gun (courtesy of several local and state troopers) say your actually going at. 5 mph is a HUGE difference in trap speed. As a matter of fact, there was an article in motor trend about how alot of spedometers are calibrated to read 5mph over. I guess some auto execs. decided that they could save xyz lives per year by doing this.

Hmmm, never heard of that.

The motor was a L98 longblock.

the L98 heads are ok. There are better heads out there but at least theyre not large chamber smog heads.

Forgot to mention, awhile back, I checked the speedo with a GPS and with the calculations on this site, and both said I was calibrated. (Off like, 1% or something like that.)
