Performance Chips?

Ok I have been told getting a custom burned chip for my specific vehicle is the best option on this. Question how much money, where is the best place or places to get it done and how much will this cost? Also how much actually change would I see from a chip on a 305TBI Formula. And O yea is the transgo shift kit the best shift kit to get for our cars? Thanks for any input

Do other mods first like headers with a full 3" exhaust and gears and posi in the rear. You don't need to worry about one of those "custom" chips until you really start modding it.

Just because its not the answer you want to hear doesn't mean its not the most logical one. You really should get some other mods first. For the stuff the chip will do you can just advance your base ignition timing with a timing light a little and probably gain just as much if not more than with a chip. If you really want a chip though check out www.tbichips.com

my custom chip is from Ed Wright at fastchip.com:

http://www.fastchip.com/

his customs are $300, but with lots of mods (cam, heads, injectors, etc) a custom chip is required.

It's a 305 TBI Formula, unless it has rear discs and a smaller gear in the rear then its not posi.

I had a hypertech stage II chip in my 305 TBI with a K&n and a flowmaster, and low temp thermostat. the chip was the last thing i did to it and it by far made the biggest difference of all the other things i did to it.

swapping a rearend is as easy as unbolting some bolts and brake lines and putting the new one in just like the old one came out. it can be done in a couple hours easily. you can probably look in a haynes manual to help you out.

check ebay they are always for sale on there. i have seen them for a few hundred bucks with discs and posi.

the best chip is the one you make yourself.

for $150 you can get everything you need to burn your own chips. you can look in the diy-prom board, they have step by step insturctions for gathering the data and getting started. no one is going to be able to accuratly guess what you combo will do.

btw, we had a person on here with a stock l03 who LOST .2 in the 1/4 after a chip. i can tell you that with just small changes to my chip in my car, i have made big improvments, my MPH went up by almost 2mph in the 1/4. my et didn't really chage, but that is probably due to my crappy driving, but the MPH shows the HP gains from my own chip.
