PACE SETTER headers come in.

Was wondering about these headers for the firebird formula i need some headers i read that the y pipe at the end where the cat goes is only 2.5 inches could i just cut the pipe off and get a bent 3inch pipe installed.

edit: and why would you buy z28 valvesprings just to replace the heads with the worlds that can easily take a "lt1" cam's lift.

Agreed. A little off topic here but in your sig you listed a 2000 GTP as a kill, may I ask how you managed to win that race, I've always thought GTP's were solid 15 flat cars maybe faster.

So you are planning a heads/cam swap on a 100,000 plus mile motor. Right now as-is are you running a catalytic converter?

edit (notice I know how to use this button): According to you sig, you are still using a cat; take if off and see how much your car smokes. I would bet that that smoke is burning oil, and cats do a pretty good job in hinding it (first-hand experience there).

I'm happy with the headers, although they are the only ones that I have ever had on this car. In stock form the headers are good, it's the y-pipe that blows. The collectors on the y-pipe are rough as ****, and resemble nothing of smoothness. I fixed that with a high speed die grinder (powered off of compressed air). After that its the single 2.5" pipe that sucks. I took a saw-zall to that and cut off the single 2.5" pipe and threw it away. The shop bent and installed single 3" in its place. I went from a stock setup to a headers/no cat/all 3" setup all at the same time (IMO the way to do it). The headers went in pretty easily, and the collector bolts aren't that hard to get at. Surprisingly, I didn't notice a huge difference; although all I had was a worn out 305 with a Stealth manifold and holley 600 CFM double pumper carb. I bet that if I switched back to the stock setup with my current mods it would be deathly slow though...
