WP Torquers, Fastburns, or E-Tecs?

Which heads for a 383 project I am planning out? What compression could I run the aluminum heads at and still run 89 octane?

I like the idea of running the Fastburn's. The E-tec's are a nice choice as well since they are very similar to the Fastburn's.

I would run 10:1 That's a reasonable compression ratio.

Any of those heads would be great. The fast burns have a smaller chamber at 62cc and would increase your CR a bit (depending on piston application) and the E-tecs look really good. I haven't seen any magazine build ups with these heads but they look scary. Since they are a vortec design and have higher flow ratings than most heads they seem like they would make a better choice over standard vortecs (which we all know can support serious power). i would love to see some testing doen with these heads. I believe they have two types of these heads 170cc and 200cc.

Probably because you have to rob a bank to afford a set.

i would go with the fastburns, there is alot of GM magic sprinkled in those heads the flow numbers i have seen, and the dyno results i have seen, just don't match up, GM did something right in the CC design, and port design to really make them scream. i just saw a 350 build up, with fastburn, ultradyne cam (230/238 530 lift IIRC, probably not exact, but close) and a holley on top, put down 480hp, and 460lb/ft.

One of the mags. Hot Rod or Car Craft did a test on 200cc E-tecs awhile back, they just put together a bunch of parts they had laying around on a 350 with 11.25 CR, it had a big nasty cam in it of about 254@.050 and .550 lift and made 530hp out of it.

Any head would be a good choice. Whats cool about the fastburns is that they are designed not to be ported. Suposedly the make the best flow right out of the box. At one time my dream engine was a miniram 355 with the Gm fastburns and a big cam. It made 450 fwhp and looked so so so good. Hot rod built it a couple of years ago. To bad the build sheet was like 10 grand.
