Biggest Cam For 89 Stock Camaro

i was wodering what would be the biggest cam i could install in my wifes 89 305 tbi camaro. i have a cam from tpis left over from an old project and would like to put it in her car. i think its---.480 intake and .520 exhaust and thats gross lift. thanks

i wouldnt suggest putting that cam in a stock LO3. there are many many reasons why, but i gotta go to class....

Axle/Gears: 3.42 Eaton Posi, 10 Bolt
that is way too big for stock heads, the lift is way too much you would put the springs in bind, and that lift would pull the studs. the duration is also way to much for the stock computer.

i dont know if there really is a clear cut line. obviously something like a solid roller with 240 some odd degrees of duration and .6 in of gross lift is a definate no-no. Id say use an lt1 or possibly a vortec cam. either of those would be a reasonable match to what you have. Id also like to say the ramjet cam but the lsa is a bit tight for the stock tuning, although it would be a great match for the stock engine.

id also stay below .460 in. of lift with the stock heads.

yes, and the computer will not like anything on an LSA smaller than 112, but 114 is probably easier for the stock computer.
