Have COMPLETELY STOCK baseline times, now the modding begins!

Well I went to the track tonight to get some baseline times from my 92 RS, which is completely stock right down to the paper filter. I have the spare tire, all smog, stock EVERYTHING, lol. I got there late cause of work, and only made 2 runs. First run I ran a blistering 16.8 at 79 mph, lol. I let the car shift on it's own at about 4300-4400 and the stock stat wouldn't let the car cool below 220 in the staging lanes. Second run I turned the ac on in the staging lanes so the fan would come on and this kept the car cooler. I also manually shifted at 5,000 rpm and was able to pull off a 16.3 at 82 mph. I shifted into third just before the traps, which I believe was a mistake. I think if I would have left the car in second I would have pulled a better et. I wanted to make more runs and experiment with shift points to see where I made my best time, but they closed the tack . I honestly think with more runs, a little better 60 (I never even stalled the car up like I usually do), and finding where the car likes to be shifted I could have ran in the 15.9xx range COMPLETELY STOCK.

Here is the rundown of both runs:

Run 1
r/t .715 (Please excuse the crappy r/t, but it was my first time at the track since opening day of this year)
60' 2.310
330 6.864
1/8 10.696
mph 64.30
1000 14.001
1/4 16.819
mph 79.92

Run 2
r/t .547 (much better, but still not quite back to normal)
60' 2.305
330 6.796
1/8 10.491
mph 66.66
1000 13.680
1/4 16.389
mph 82.87

Hey man thats prety good. You will be excited when you really knock some tics off that time when the mods come. BTW, is that your only thirdgen. I thought you have one with lots of stuff done to it.

nice times. Headers, hi flow cat, cat back and some gears should get you deep into the 15s.

So you guys think that's a pretty good time for stock, and my mph? How about my 60's? They are pretty crappy I think and I wasn't getting any wheel spin either. I wanted to try a couple runs with stalling the car up to see if it made any difference, but oh well. I'm thinking gears might be one of my first mods, then maybe headers. Oh, BTW, this is my only third gen. I also have a highly modded LS1, which I think is the car you are thinking about. The one thing that suprised me was how much manually shifting really helped. I dropped half a second, and think I could have dropped even more by experimenting with shift points.
