Having Some Timing Problem

Having Some Timing Problem

hey guys heres my problem:

well i start the car i disconnect the timing wire
i loosen the dis. bolt
i get my timing gun point it and put it on 0 it runs good
i connect the wire back
i turn off my then on
bamn my timing is at 12 when i measure whys that?

because im waisting alot of gas what can the problem be?

Axle/Gears: 14/41 tooth
the computer adjusts the timing. you unplug it, set the timing, plug it back in, and check and it SHOULD be at a different point

yea i putted on zero and when i check it again its at 12... why could it be? I need to know because it wastes gas

I was told its the ECM advancing the timing, when mine is set at 10* it advances to about 22. not sure but i think a programming/chip burning session would fix it.

okay when i put it on 0 and it gos to 12 my full tanl lastes like 4 days and when i put it on -4 that it then stays at 6 it lastes the whole week?

When you plug in the timing wire the computer advances your timing that is why it it reads differently. Advancing the timing should increase your fuel economy thou. Im not sure why retarding your timing would cause your fuel economy to get better.

no smell like gas just feels alot slower though?
