Got head info need cam stuff

I have an 89 trans am with the lo3 engine. My mods begin with all stock tbi free mods, turbocity spacer, performer intake manifold, power pulleys, headers, y pipe, three inch exhaust, and 3.73's in an automatic. There is alot of talk about the lt1 cam but I would like to stay with the edelbrock brand and would prefer that it is daily driven and not to extreme (if i could no computer tuning). What would be a good cam for about thirty to fourty horses (specs). Thanks fellas for the help.

with the gains you are looking for you would have to go at least with the LT1 cam which isnt even all that aggressive, .447/.459 203/207. Also, edelbrock does not make a mild hydralic roller. If you want to go alittle milder than the LT1, use an L98 cam with 1.5 or 1.6 rocker arms.

So the cam is a direct replacement or what else would have to be done. Thanks.

its pretty much a direct replacement, you have to trim the dowel pin, but that is it.

the comp cams (summit # CCA-08-500-8) is a nice cam also, it wouldn't be too bad, a little larger than the LT1, but with some computer work should complement that setup very well.

Correcto, going to have to go aftermarket, or a GM piece.
