Got a msd blaster coil, what spark gap?
I did a search and didnt really get an answer. I got a basically stock lo3 and I bought a msd blaster coil. Will it be beneficial to widen the spark plug gap to .45 and if I do what are the cons to doing this. Thanks in advance.

you might widen it out a little, even on my stock coil, i actulay ran a .40 gap all the time with no issues, with a coil like the blaster, you should be fine a .45

I run the blaster coil and gap my plugs to .45. Just make sure you stay away from cheap wires if you do this for extra insurance.

What is the benifit of running .045 gap. I know since there is more spark it can make up the differnece in space but is there any performance/fuel efficiency gain with the MSD coil. I just changed my plugs recenlty and they are set to .035 exactly. Should I re-gap or would I be wasting my time. I have been running the coil for about three years now and have already fouled out a set of bosche plus platinum 4's.

I'm not sure about the science behind it, but generally speaking, a wider gap equals more power unless you obviously gap too far. I can don't remember a sotp pants gain or anything when i went from .035 to .045, but maybe it was worth a couple of hp, and like they say every little bit adds up. I don't think it help my economy at all. Also, I would just wait until next time you change the plugs rather than regap now. That's just my opinion though, as changing those plugs can be pretty frustrating

Like I said, the coil helped me out. However, I was already running the MSD-6A and 8.8 wires.

Are you using the module? I have been interested in replacing mine with a high performance one, but wasn't sure if it would be worth it or not.

After I installed the blaster coil I noticed smoother idle, better throttle resaponse and overall better mileage. I was pretty happy with it, still am.

Just make sure that you don't get shocked by it. For some reason whenever I change the timing on the car I get shocked, and boy does that hurt. Nothing like 40,000 volts to waken you up. I am only touching the cap to. It is arcing off of something and going right into me.
