all 350 TBI or cam guru's

my car is in my sig. what does the computer not like about the cam. is it only the lobe sep. does it care about that the most. so most cams with a lobe sep of 112 or higher will work with some tuning.

im getting the dart iron eagles for sure..

now i need a cam. i was looking at the comp cams Extreme energy. i think the specs were
218/224 .49x .50x and a lobe sep of 112. how hard would this be to tune.

just throw some 1.6 rockers on that LT1 cam, those will give you
203/210 .477/.490 115*. It gives you a larger lobe separation which could be easier to tune. But if you want to go all out, swap cams but i think its going to be tough to tune. Also, will a TBI be able to support all that power the cam will be making.

Shouldn't be too hard. In fact, should be pretty easy if you take it slow.

that comp shouldn't be too bad, for a 350 it really istn' all that big, the 112 should be ok with computer. it will take some tuning for sure, but nothing overwhelming. if it helps, i plan to run a 210/218 .492 .492 112 on my 305/TBI if that puts things into perspective.

you might try going one step larger on the comp scale.... for a 350, that cam is what i would consider on the mild side.

have you called comp and asked them for a recomendation?

i would also suggest calling Lunatti. ask for Harorld, his extension is 135, IIRC (could be wrong there though) ask him if he has new hyd. roller SBC cams, or if you can get one of his old ultradyne grinds. a talk with him, you will learn a TON about cams, and he will pick a cam that will work wonderfuly. we just put one in my friends mini-ram/afr/383 combo, and it is wicked (still needs alot of tuning and work, the fuel pressure was dropping to about 8psi at WOT and he stall ran 13.6@102 and it idles smoothly, and is fairly computer friendly. it specs something like 232/238 .565 .565 114) really the best way to get the best cam, is to call and talk to someone like Harold. he is the one who designs them, and he can really pick the right cam for you app.

thats better 220/230 should give you some pretty good gains, over the LT1, and the 114 will keep the idle nice, and make it easier to tune.

i think its my heads thats the real power loss, cuz RICH92RS350 has this cam (116 degrees of lobe separation, 204/214 duration @.050" (260/270 adv), .429/.452 Lift. Crane Part#104221) and he has 310hp so i dont see y my LT1 cam is only putting down 199.8hp. so i think its a combo of my chip and heads. so ill be getting the dart iron eagles and probably that last cam i posted, and fix my chip. then hopefully ill have over 300hp

a talk with harold will sway you in his cam direction really, he is paid to design and pick cams for people that work. he is going to realisticly be able to tell you the kind of HP and you can get with diffrent cams.
