Need opinions and knowledge
I'm sorry I know this has probably been worn out but I couldn't find it.
My friend has an 84 L69 TA. He is hell bent on changing his ccc to FI be it by TBI or TPI. We have a person that will sell us anything and everything I think we would need off of a 91 RS LO3 for $100
:hail: But as with any project come questions
1- Heard good and bad about inline pumps; could it work?
2- I know we need the wiring, ECM, throttle body, distributor,
manifold, a mech pump blocking plate, EGR, and all the fun
sensors and relays the wires connect to.
3- What Else; (see 2)
4- What kind of regulator should we get? Can we use stock?
5- Is there a power difference; good or bad? I saw the post
about more air flow in a CCC
6-Since L69's have a bigger cam than LO3's; will it idle right?
Bonus Question; IS IT WORTH IT?
Any help is greatly appreciated!! Especially since I have my own car to work on

inline pump would be fine, most of them are noisy though.
since this is going to retrofited on a car with a hotter cam, and better heads, computer tuning is going to be in order to get it to run to the point that he is happy, wether it be TPI or TBI.
is it worth it. for HP -- NO.
it will have a little better throttle response, and can drive up 10k feet in elevation, and not have to rework the carb, but from a HP stand point, he would be better off tossing a holley or demon carb on.

you think those wackers would notice? last time they guy here was convinced my PS pump was my air pump. i could probably toss a carb on, and they would never know, they have never actualy pulled my air cleaner to look. and i live in the PNW, we invented the tree huger! (now all the tree huggers drive SUV's

Yeah, they don't look under the hood but we do not have the know how to pass the sniff test the good ol' boy way; My other Z28 has an Edelbrock Carb, Weiand intake and vacuum adv dist. I had it registered in another county to avoid emissions; but eventually I'll be forced to pass. My friend doesn't have that option (my in-laws in another county) and is scared to death of the emisions standards. Thats one reason he wants EFI. My L69 has a rich code (44)? but it to is registered in another county; I have had to try and rebuild the emissions system because the brain surgeon that had the car
before me thought it would be a fun riddle to cut some misc wires.
I'd love to know how to pass the good ol' boy way someday

Emissions? In Texas (at least this part) to pass all you have to do is not have your car inspected on an "Ozone Action Day" and all is good. There is no way in hell my Jeep would have passed a sniff test with the carb (Holley 4160 that was there before the ProJection system), duals, and cam it has. Another thing you can do (if your car is old enough) is have it registered as a classic or a project car. In Texas, a "home built" designation on the title and/or registration can often be enough to exempt a car from emissions tests...unless you live in Houston, then all bets are off.

I have an external fuel pump and It's having no problems supplying my 75 pound injecotors at 20 psi. You can hear it only when the car is off and the key is on. If you have any kind of an exhast system at all you'll never notice it. I did mount it in 1/4 inch rubber so that helped. If you get a 454 tbi or a holley tbi you won't have any problems supporting the power, but you'll need to look into chip burning to make it run right even if you use the stock TB. If your friend is stuck on FI he'll love burning his own chips.
Ohh the pump is a stock replacement on 88-90 ford trucks, they should ask you if it's in tank or external, it's external of course it ran me 75 dollars at advanced auto.
