I used this one.
No power required.
Make sure the com port is set right.
Do not try to go above the default 2400 baud.
You do not need the R3.
You have to make sure you have the emitter and collector on the right pins!! the package for the 222 is a little ambiguis.
Also read my last post in the TBIChips post.

Alright, thats the EXACT way I did it.

So I'm guessing I don't have the comm port set to 2400 baud. I didn't fool with it....the default setting is what on com ports? 9600?

I was starting to rip my hear out, and now I'm going to have to re-solder the whole damn thing...Sigh.

The default on winaldl should already be 2400. And I think com 1. Just go to the configuration button and verify the settings.
If the com port is good you should have an OK by the port selection.
Do you have a serial port or are you trying to use the parallel or usb port?
I had no luck with either so far with XP.
The serial works fine and my pcmcia to serial works with 98se.

Good luck.

I brought my desktop system outside and tried it that way . So I'm guessing that the port isn't set to 2400. I'll have to check that out and try again....after I reassemble the DB9 setup.

You should not have to adjust your computers default port settings. I think they are 8, N, 1, 9600.
You are concerned with the winaldl setting.

I never fooled with the Winaldl settings...they are Com 1, 2400, and whatever ECM it sets itself too automatically.

Well, there's no gaurantee you're plugging it into the pc's idea of com1.. some pcs come configured without a com1 at all.. you might want to figure out what your ports are

Also, if you're using the default ecu configuration, it sure isn't going to work.. set it to your ecu (1228746)
