I've heard some say the Turbo City's are bad cause the gap in between the bores(I thought this was good?) What do ya think, a Turbo City type or the type with two holes?
why do you want one? just curious b/c i heard that they really aren't that helpful, and may cause hood clearance issues. unless you are going to be running a drop base open element i dont think there is much point. I have heard that the money would be better spent on injecter spacers. but you can take it for what's it worth, however i have seen the turbocity one and i agree on the siamesing it is a little odd for them to do it.
The only way I can see the siamesed bores on a spacer to be at an advantage would be if the intake manifold had the same thing done into its plenum area. Other that that I think it is pointless and is a cause of my rough idle. Siamesing the bores leaves a nice flat space for air to hit before it enters the intake right on its mounting surface. So I would go with a design that has two separate bores. You will now have a nice smooth entrance all the way into your manifold. They do not justify the cost and you won't see anything out of it performance wise. I did get a little bit beter fuel economy but that is about it. I really only got mine (turbo city) to clear my distributor like Hot86z-28 mentioned. Plus a lot of TBI spacers are 1" tall and you will have diffulculty hooking up your throttle linkage. When I put my spacer on (.5") it pulled on my throttle and may car idled at 2000rpm. So I had to loosen the bracket that attaches to the back of my intake and stretch and bend it a bit. Now my car comes back to a normal idle. I can't even imagine how to get a 1" spacer to work. There is only one member that I know that runs one and his screen name is 91bird305 I believe. He has a website where he details how he got his to work. Check him out in the members data. SO all in all, it would have been cheaper without the hassle if I just got a flat based air cleaner to start with. I am going to be doing that soon.

on my L03, The cfm-tech spacer which is siamesed made a good seat of the pants feeling. I had to use a spacer on my old 300-66 manifold so the TBI would clear the EGR...I only got one for that reason. I have tried my motor with it on and off and it made hardly any difference. I think its all psychological. I put it back on because I figured, hell I paid for this thing, might as well use it.
Shifty- Not flaming or disagreeing with you, but how would siamesing the plenum do anything with a siamesed spacer? My spacer is siamesed I think?

I have that one. See how it would block off the plenums siamesing? It allows the manifold to draw from both ports already...
Let me know of your idea.

Well what the thing with siamesed bores in the spacer leaves a nice flat spot on the intake surface. Seems like there will be lots of turbulence there. I will take a pic tomm and show you guys what I mean. After the TBI is bolted down there is a nice dead space between the bores that will cause turbulance. Air wil be drawn from both bores but it will smack right into the top of the intake manifold. The space is about a square inch or so. My pic will show what I mean. So hold those thoughts till I get it.
Waiting for the pic before I decide.

I will be using my nitrous plate as a spacer
Conveniently siamesed with a couple jets in the middle too, lol.
Conveniently siamesed with a couple jets in the middle too, lol.Okay I hope these pictures help. Sorry it was rainy and everything was wet and the pics didn't turn out to well. Ok in this pic you can see what I mean by the dead space. There is a gasket on the top and bottom of this spacer to show the space. Now imagine the intake on the bottom and the TBI unit on top.
Ok here is another one on the manifold but without the gaskets to show you what I meant by the flat spot. You can see what ever air that goes between here has to go out the other side. Just doesn't seem that benificial.
And here is the last one to stay legal with the pics. This was a hrad pic to take but you can see to the left where the dead space is. This is with the TBI unit, spacer, gaskets, all bolted to the manifold.

I used the Jeg's 2" spacer. Went with a 2" drop element and everything hooked up fine, no throttle linkage problems, no rough idle, it idles at about 750-800rpm still (once warmed of course), and no hood clearance problems. Gave me about a 3 mpg increase in city driving and is a LOT more responsive from a stop, probably cuz the linkage is nice and tight now. It's nice, but if I were to do it again, I would not spend the $75 on a spacer. I'd save and put it elsewhere. Like Fredless, I paid for it, so I'm gonna use it.

Wow that is interesting. You wouldn't happen to have a pic would you? I wonder if it is the diff between the 5pd and auto linkages that makes yours easy to install. Are they different? I mean isn't the bracket on the auto cars a bit different than the T5 cars becaue of the TV cable?Originally posted by 305RSlc

Yeah I think it is different due to the TV cable but that is all I can figure. I'll try and get a pic as soon as possible to show you how it's setup.
