The ups guy brought me a toy
My 14*3 open element with a summit reusable filter my only question is does anyone have the summit reusable filter? Looks lik a k+n so does it use their oil or what? Didnt want to clutter the open sticky with the pics seeing as how the oil is my only question. Gonna look bad once it warms up and passes emissions so i can put it on and get my chrome valve covers.

It probably is just like the K&N but I would assume it would come pre-oiled. I say it would be like the K&N because I think they lost their patent on the reusable filter technology or something so now Summit can offer one just like it. I remember hearing that a little while back.

Is That a Offset Flat Base?
I plan on getting a Summit 14"X3" flat offset base air cleaner. As of now I have no air cleaner, not to worry the car is'nt running yet, he|| it has'nt in 2 1/2 years. The old one set outside and got ruined.

I'd be careful about useing K&N's filter recharge kit. Even though they did lose thier patent on reusable filters, they DIDN'T lose thier patent on the technology in the filter. The oil that K&N uses is specially designed to work with the element. You can try it, but I'd be afraid it could have adverse effects on the intake system. My $.02

I was looking at those Summit filters and thinking of trying those in my next car. As far as using the K&N recharge kit, I don't know. But in the new Summit catalog under new products, there are the Summit cone filters. Listed with the filters are filter oil and cleaner kits in different colors.
SUM-239360 red; SUM-239361 blue, plus green, purple, clear and turquoise are also offered.

Do you happen to have the part number for that open element? I hate trying to find the right item on those web sites...

Pt#
SUM-239-432 is the Pt# for the 3" chrome-top off-set-base filter. It has a reuseable filter like the one above and sits a bit forward to clear the coil, wires & cap. It cost $40.
