Here is a LOT of information to make your TBI car perform as well and BETTER than the 5.0 TPI if you take the time to read it.

Hey not bad and great for newbies. For a minute I thought this was that site where that guy claims to get an easy 450hp out of his 305 and that it was an all around better platform to work with than a 350. I still wouldn't get my hopes up of the 400hp 305 link at the bottom.

I really should read all of it before I pass judgement. I just skimmed it when I posted my previous comment and so far it looked accurate.

when someone comes up for an injector solution for 400hp, i'll build the 305 wiht a big enough cam to do it.

Huge mistake on my part. For some reason I didn't reconize it and thought the backround was a different style for the infamous 8 page TBI hand job. Trending Topics

you know, he did put a lot of effort into it. his cam specs look a little strange, though.
to his credit, there's a jump page on there that links to an old car craft article where they made the power bulge firebird hood ainto a functional cowl induction for peanuts. very, very cool.

I read it just because I am thinking about getting a TBI car this spring. From an Engineering perspective he has the right idea on the engine being an air pump and that it requires a constant velocity for more power, and colder air being more dense etc. The TBI system is good for what I would call a starter in the automotive tuning world because of simplicity, but eventually you would want to move up to a more complex system, because the more settings you can alter the better it will be.
He talks about the air intake a lot. Almost too much really, he gets stuck on that topic for a long time, and doesn't really talk about exhaust mods to get that extra Air out etc.
I don't think I will be seeing a 400 hp monster, but it did help I think. Probably a good noob read, if you could just tell them to think about 200-220 hp range and not to think about adding 500 in extra's and bang you have 400 hp.

the key issue here is in the cam specs, i looked at each of the links, none of those cams are computer friends, they are on such extremes as 106* LSA. that is going to not jive with the puter. and 244* @ 0.050
on a 110*, not a chance. and the one build up has the cam retarded 16*. none of this is stuff that people are going to , or can get to work with TBI.

his little DIOADIR or whatever it is, (do it once and do it right). Is the best advice i think he has on that page. I found that right before i found TGO and i was ready to have a car to go out there and whip a few vettes! luckey i stumbled accross here though. took my TBI ego down to earth.
